"Imaginary Orphanhood: Khlebnikov and Harms in the Context of Russian and European Modernism" is an attempt to expose the works of art, manifestos and life-creative practices of the first avant-garde to an open-minded consideration, independent of the cult avant-garde, and from the century-old inertia of his perception.

The monograph problematic the nature of the first avant-garde, the legitimacy of the unique place he occupied in today's literary canon, and the scale of its innovation. In the development of this research program are fascinating intellectual routes from the existing interpretations of the famous works of Khlebnikov and Harms - through their contextualization - to new ones.
