The book examines episodes of biography and work of two prominent Russian poets of the early 20th century, for many Russian readers who were the most important poets of the era, and their posthumous life in the last century is told by separate essays. The book also includes pages of the life of the student Innocent Annensky and Nikolai Gumilev's companion - Anna Akhmatova. The presence of these three poets has painted the picture of all Russian poetry for a long time, and the echoes of their words are given priority in the collection of articles written over four decades.
