Iurii Lotman v moei zhizni: Vospominaniia. Dnevniki. Pis'ma - Sonkina F.S.

The identity of the outstanding philologist, literary critic, cultural scientist Y.M. Lotman (1922-1993), one of the founders of the famous Tartu School, his life and work today arouse the special interest of researchers. That is why M.V. Sonkina decided to publish not only the memoirs of her mother F.S. Sonkina, but also her diaries and correspondence with Lotman, representing a lively excited conversation of two loving people. Familiar from the student years, J.M. Lotman and F.S. Sonkin became close two decades later and since then their relationship has played a huge role in everyone's life. Unlike the letters of many well-known correspondents-colleagues of Lotman, their correspondence almost does not touch scientific problems, it is addressed to the life of private, domestic, sincere, covering both the inner world of Yuri Mikhailovich, and the character of the woman he loved for many years. As Lotman himself said, "history goes through a man's house, through his privacy." In this sense, the correspondence between Lotman and Sonkina will enter Russian culture not only as a vivid evidence of a feeling, rare in intensity and height, but also as a testament to the era.
