Joseph Brodsky, the last classic of the 20th century, which connected the Silver Age of Russian culture with the modern generation of zeros, once said in an interview: "If I started to create any theology, I think it would be the theology of language." He was convinced of his paramount importance and poetry was for him the highest stage of human evolution. With his work he embodied this theology, made it visual. We found it interesting to create an anthology of Joseph Brodsky's statements on the themes of language, time, poetry and culture in general.
This work does not claim to be an alphabetical collection of quotations, from "a" to "i" and for all occasions - it is limited by its name and the number of existing interviews with Joseph Brodsky - but nevertheless it presents a kind of logical sequence of revelations that define the unique worldview of this man: a poet idolizing his language.
