Larkin returns to an uninhabited, dilapidated house after the fire, where she once lived with her mother, Ivi, and with Sissy, who both raised them. Trying to understand what started the fire in the house, Larkin plunges into the mysteries of the distant past, and it forces her to rethink her own life and attitude to loved ones.
