Stepan Veselovsky did a titanic job of identifying Pushkin's ancestors. The poet himself, as it is known, led his family from the "husband of honest" Ratsha, but neither Ratsha himself nor the two generations mentioned after him in the Tsar's pedigree of the mid-16th century, can not be verified by sources.
