This is a story about twenty-five residential Moscow houses built from the 17th century to the 1920s. Each chapter is dedicated to one house and consists of historical excursion and memories of residents, accompanied by archival documents, old and new photos of the house. For several years, the author of the texts Dmitry
Oparin and photographer Anton Akimov wrote a column about historic houses in the magazine "Big City". When the column was over, they continued to collect memories of residents, search for old photos and archival documents, wade into attics and black stairs, take pictures of preserved parquet and painted in several layers of stucco. The result is this book.
