N.F. Dubrovin is a historian, academic and general. It has a special place among military historians of the second half of the 19th century. In fact, he did not join any of the currents that were determined in the military history science of the time. The circle of interests of the scientist was very extensive. This historical work of the author tells about the events that took place in Russia in 1773-1774 and are known to us as "Pugachevshchina". Dubrovin studied a huge amount of materials stored in the archives of St. Petersburg and Moscow, and documents from private archives. To make up for the lack of information and the full characterization of the events and course of the uprising, the author used unreleased documents and, of course, the investigation of Pugachev and his accomplices.
Originally the work was published in three volumes, but for the convenience of readers the information is divided into two books, conditionally divided into 1773 and 1774.
