"The Sleepofe Springs" by Igor Severyanin, completed in 1931, but never printed during his lifetime, is, in fact, a document, an autobiography written in broad strokes. But at the same time it is the prose of an outstanding poet, one of the brightest representatives of the Silver Age, the founder of egofuturism. Everything in this prose is mixed and interconnected: descriptions of being in Estonian emigration, trips to Europe, meetings with Bunin and Mayakovsky coexist with literary criticism, drawn in the old days, and strung on the thread of thought wanderings on the irretrievable Past. And in this past - Fyodor Sologub, Bruce, Blok, Gumilev, Georgi Ivanov, Hippius, Merezhkovsky, Fofanov and many more, many, many... And in this past there was a wreath of the "king of poets" to which the Northerner was crowned by an enthusiastic audience. The poet would have known then what twists of fate await him... Igor Severyanin died, half-forgotten, in December 1941 in Nazi-occupied Tallinn.
