"The Hero of Our Time" is a programwork of classics of Russian and world literature by M.Y. Lermontov (1814 - 1841). "The Hero of Our Time" is the first work in Russian literature in the genre of a realistic socio-psychological novel. The novel was first published in 1840 and became a striking phenomenon, one of the peaks in the national literature of the nineteenth century. The novel "Hero of our time" is included in the school program on literature for high school students.
The story is based on the life story of the main character, Grigory Pechorin. The work consists of five parts, located not in chronological order, but there is a logic to this. The writer gradually begins to immerse the reader in the inner world of his hero, a cynic, a burner of life, in anything unbelieving, contradictory and ambiguous.
For all this, "The Hero of Our Time" is also a philosophical work that raises the most important questions for the reader about the meaning of life, about the role of fatum; it is also a love affair, fascinating, exciting and tragic.
