Probably, in pre-revolutionary Russia there was no more popular hero than Vladimir Vsevolodovich Monomakh. Only in the Soviet era he was supplanted by other images of the true and imaginary defenders of Russia. And the first Russian tsars were so fascinated by the image of Vladimir that they called the Tatar cap-crown, which was crowned on the state, the monomakh hat.
Hundreds of books have been written about him, but this politician is still a mystery to scientists, and his life is shrouded in many mysteries, full of "fried" scandalous facts.
Was there a genuine Monomakh a hat or was it a royal crown-tiara? Who was Monomakh, more Russian or Byzantine? What more has this ruler of Russia brought - harm or benefit and how corresponds to reality the image of the prince?
