Alexander Skobov, a politician, publicist and writer, knows full well what constitutes a "monster of power." In Soviet times, he was a dissident, repressed; after the collapse of the Soviet Union, seeing that the new government retained the worst features of the former, strongly criticized it.
In his new book, Alexander Skobov argues that the Kremlin elite is now in a state of agony: the "highest stage of Putinism" is characterized by persecution of dissenters, ideological prohibitions and "preventive repressions." The conservative-patriotic "Putin doctrine" is losing its rational beginnings, acquiring an obvious police character at home and aggressive on the international scene.
According to the author, all this indicates the imminent collapse of the system, and he is already making certain predictions about post-Putin Russia.
