Swiss researcher Daniel Ganser investigates the scandalous history of secret NATO units created after World War II. When joining NATO, Western European states had to sign secret protocols that required their governments to "guarantee an internal orientation to the Western bloc by any means, even if the electorate demonstrates other preferences."
Along with projecting a military threat on the USSR and the Warsaw Pact states, NATO was called upon to carry out terror within the alliance states themselves to keep them within the Atlantic bloc. Presented as a "defender of democratic values," NATO was in fact intended to suppress the democratic hopes of its own citizens "by any means, up to the murder, imposing a predetermined course.
