In 1883-1888, the great Paul Verlaine published six essays about French poets, whom he called the cursed. The term took root and began to be replenished with new names, but the first list could change only Verlaine himself, and he did not - and formed the canon of "great renegades. In Russia, anthologies of these poets have been published many times. but there has never been a book where the six poets whose names have made up the first "canon of the damned" have been collected.
These poets, who went against the literary rules both in life and in fate, They were "cursed" by life, readers, critics, a change of literary tastes. However, their poems will speak for themselves. By the way, if for four of the six poets we put in the book selected poems, the other two - Rimbaud and Mallarme - are represented almost completely. and many translations are published in our publication for the first time.
