The largest representative of the "lost generation" Thomas Wolfe (1900-1938) is one of the writers who formed American prose in the 20-30s of the 20th century. His contemporaries put him on a par with Hemingway, Faulkner and Fitzgerald. Although Wolfe's creative work lasted only a decade, he left a bright mark on the history of U.S. literature. His first novel "Look at your house, angel" is not only a chain of events, closely following the life situation of the author, but also a biography of the spirit, which tells about the turbulent "education of feelings", about love and hatred, about passionate attachment to the homeland and escape from it, and, finally, about the creative torments of the writers. "It's not people who run away from life because it's boring, and life runs away from people because they're small" (Thomas Wolfe).
