Pavel Muratov (1881 - 1950) - writer, historian, curator of the department of fine arts and classical antiquities of the Rumyantsev Museum, a subtle connoisseur of European culture. The writer worked on the book "Images of Italy" for many years, until 1924, when the final edition was published in Berlin. Since then, new generations of readers discover Muratov's Italy: "not a theatre tragic or sentimental, not a book of memories, not a source of exotic sensations, but the home of our soul."
The fine series in this edition consists of works by the St. Petersburg artist Nadia Kuznetsova, working at the junction of two techniques - photography and graphics. It is wonderfully conveyed that special light, "Italian dust" which to this day is the air of the country, which was for Pavel Muratov spiritual homeland.
