Not far from the small Norwegian town of Tromso, on a deserted island with a lighthouse disappears a young man named Rasmus. His parents are asking for help from former police interrogation specialist Torkill Aske to find their son. Torkild recently got out of prison, where he spent three years for involuntary manslaughter. He is addicted to drugs and is not in the best condition. With great reluctance Torkild goes to the lighthouse. The deserted island is covered by a polar storm, and cold northern waves bring the body to the rocky shore. And it's not Rasmus, it's an unknown girl without a face. Torkild Aske realizes that he is not alone on the island, when someone in a diving suit comes out of the raging water and takes the body back to the sea.
