Claire Wright is desperate. She studies acting in New York, and in the absence of a green card takes on the only job that can get - to be a "bait" for unfaithful husbands in bars, working for a law firm specializing in divorce. But one day the rules of the game change. The client's husband becomes a suspect in the brutal murder of his wife, and the police asks Claire to use his acting talents to lead a sophisticated police psychologist to seek out a confession from the suspect. From the beginning, Claire doubts the guilt of Patrick Fogler. But isn't her growing confidence in his innocence a sign that she's too deeply in her role - or maybe it's the police who are making a terrible mistake?
