Dr. Theo Cray explores nature based on mathematical models. His passion and at the same time a unique skill - to find patterns and system in chaotic, at first glance, behavior of animals. When the police find the corpse of a girl, who by all indications killed a bear, doubts arise only in Dr. Krei.
Preliminary investigation shows that similar murders have occurred before. Theo is sure that something strange is going on. Now the professor, who has neither the skills of a detective, nor the powers of a policeman, first need to find information about all the victims, and then convince the authorities of their rightness.
Starting his own investigation, Theo does not suspect that in the process he will have to change a lot to complete the work. But the worst awaits in the end - because a successful search means meeting with a predator face to face.
