Wilfred von Ofen's latest book is a noteworthy account of Admiral Wilhelm Canaris, during the war, the german chief Abver and one of the most controversial figures in the German military command. Goebbels, a former referee who lived in Argentina after the war as a freelance publicist, has in recent years again and again attracted attention with his unconventional, fascinating works about the recent German history. His biography of Canaris, which includes many unknown details about the two-faced head of German military intelligence and counterintelligence, also captures from the first to the last page. A large place in the book is occupied by the connections of Canaris with the resistance and with the enemy during the war. In April 1945, he was executed as the "enemy of the state" in the Flossenburg concentration camp. At the end of the book, von Ofen joins the opinion of other experts who believe that Canaris' double play had a significant impact on the outcome of the war.
