This work, prepared on the basis of study and analysis of domestic and foreign literature, archival sources, reveals the military, political and organizational basis of the repatriation process, the policy of the Soviet state in the field repatriation of Soviet and foreign nationals, activities of state-political and military repatriation bodies in 1944-1953. The focus is on the process of returning to the homeland of Soviet and foreign nationals liberated by the Red Army and Allied forces in Eastern and Western Europe, as well as collaborators, prisoners of war of the German army and armies of its allies and internees during the study period. These processes are still the subject of debate and are not always objectively evaluated by both domestic and Western historians. Without myths and falsifications, the peculiarities of allied policy towards Soviet prisoners of war and displaced persons during the Great Patriotic War are revealed, its dynamics in 1945-1953. The complexity and ambiguity of the content of the Allied policy in implementing the Crimean agreements, which created difficulties in the way of the Soviet repatriation bodies in the western zones of occupation of Germany and Austria, in Europe.
