The book, dedicated to the events of the Soviet-Polish war (1920-1921), includes the memories of two military and political figures who looked at each other literally through sight: the commander-in-chief of the Polish army, Jozef Pilsudski, and the commander of the Soviet Union Mikhail Tukhachevsky's Western Front. People of different character, age and fate converged on the battlefield with different purposes: Pisludsky sought to revive the "Great Commonwealth From Sea to Sea", Tukhachevsky - to "promote the world revolution to Europe." Neither of them was able to do what they had planned.
