The British historian Thomas Esbridge in his book leads the story of the Crusades - wars for domination over the Holy Land, a region sacred to both Christians and adherents of the Muslim faith - which were waged for two centuries. They were attended by such outstanding personalities as Richard the Lionheart, Louis IX, Philip-Augustus, Sangi, Beibars and many others. Considering the history of bloody struggle from the point of view of both Christians and Muslims, the author thus avoids in the narrative of bias. He also pays great attention to the lessons of these campaigns, warning of the dangers of historical parallelism.
