Against the background of the Second World War in Yugoslavia, the Serbian people were torn apart by the civil war between the guerrillas I.Tito, the chetniks of D.Mikhailovich and the far-right supporters of D. Lyotic and M. Nedic. The most popular in Serbia during the occupation was the non-communist resistance movement D.Mihailovich, who tried to combine the ideology of nationalism with the struggle against one-party dictatorship. Rebel units and the underground organization of Serbian Chetniks were merged into the Yugoslav army in the Fatherland. The Chetniks devoted by the British and Americans fought against the enemies of their people until the end of World War II, and the last fighters remained in the mountains on the border of Serbia, Bosnia and Montenegro until 1955.
