Originally, it was a bulletin for lecturers and propagandists, publishing information, statistics, analysis of events and figures that were difficult to find in the official press. Published weekly since 1982. It's out on Wednesdays. The editorial was part of the structure of the publishing house "Knowledge" of the All-Union Society "Knowledge." In 1978-1979 - monthly output, from 1980 to March 1982 - twice a month. The appearance and format of the pages of the publication has changed radically twice in these years. In May 1990, it was listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest newspaper in the history of mankind, with 33.5 million copies, with more than 100 million readers.
