The great British writer George Orwell was one of the first to recognize and explore the phenomena of totalitarianism and ideology that flourished in the tragic 20th century. Careful and thoughtful reading of George Orwell's works is a necessary, urgent task for all who want to learn to recognize the dangers of modern society and state regimes. The experience of such attentive reading suggests to share with the reader the historian of philosophy and literature Dmitry Khaustov. Continuing the tradition of philosophical commentary, following Benjamin, Agamben and Bibikhin, the author introduces us to the issues of George Orwell's political thinking and examines his work - and above all the novel "A Thousand Nine hundred and eighty-fourth" - as a new word in political anthropology.
