The real story of Tibor "Teddy" Rubin - a holocaust victim and a hero of the Korean War, awarded the Medal of Honor. In 1944, a thirteen-year-old Hungarian boy named Tibor Rubin was captured by the Nazis and sent to mauthausen concentration camp. After the war, he managed to get out of the camp alive, and after surviving the Holocaust, he arrived penniless in America, barely speaking English. Five years later, in 1950, Tibor enlisted in the U.S. Army to participate in the Korean War. Tibor was captured, where, thanks to his experience in the camp, Mauthausen was able to save his comrades from death. He was able to return from Korea only in 1953, but it took more than half a century to recognize the merits of a Jewish immigrant before the second fatherland as having gone beyond the service long.
