More than eighty years have passed since the panic on the New York Stock Exchange, the world began counting down the era of the Great Depression. The era of prosperity - the "roaring twenties" - disappeared as a dream, and for many years success and happiness gave way to despair and fear. The era of the Depression is described by many, economists broke many copies, analyzing the origin and development of economic catastrophe. Until now, our world bears the traces of that era, still people use the ideas and definitions of that time - but still many lessons of those years remain unlearned. In his work, the author examines different perspectives on the events of the Great Depression, analyzes its causes and backgrounds, compares the course of the economic crisis in different countries, examines the consequences of this protracted crisis and draws attention to reader on the main lessons of those years of relevance in our time.
