The focus of Nikolai Bolgov's consideration of the fate of a woman in the post-classical world, in which Antiquity and Christianity met. Byzantium of the 4th and 6th centuries in secular life still largely preserved the classic cult of the beautiful human, especially female, body, but Christian theologians have already conducted an uncompromising and quite successful struggle against nudity, inciting lust. There were radical changes in the field of morality, which influenced literally everything. Using secular and ecclesiastical sources, the author tells how the daily way of existence of Byzantine women reflected the non-peaceful neighborhood of Christian asceticism and the ancient freedom of mores - about how they lived, loved, raised children. Along the way, there is a lot of interesting information about the life and personal lives of women of different backgrounds - heter, nuns and nobles.
