Kimmeriitsy i skify - Artamonov M.

The book of the outstanding Russian scientist Mikhail Artamonov is dedicated to the Kimmerians and Scythians, rulers of the Black Sea steppes for most of the first millennium BC. Invasion through the Bosphorus of the biblical people "homer" - Kimmerians, on the way crushed the Frigian kingdom, stirred Asia Minor. Following them, "retired" for several decades, appeared there, bypassing the Black Sea from the east, the Scythians and entered into a rivalry with the mighty Assyria; ninety years later, they returned home to the Northern Black Sea, but for at least three centuries influenced world politics. Bit by bit, based on data from archaeology, sketchy reports of Assyrian and Greek sources, studies of linguists, M. Artamonov reconstructs the history of the Kimmerians and Scythians, their origin and relationships, their gradual disappearance dissolution among other tribes and nations.
Mikhail Artamonov (1898-1972) was a historian and archaeologist and director of the State Hermitage Museum in 1951-1964.
