The book is a detailed study of how the theft of the greatest military secret in the world took place, about its participants and the motives behind their actions. The reader is presented with a story about the lives of some of the main actors of atomic espionage, based on documentary data, mainly on their personal testimony in court and during interrogations by the FBI. In addition to detailing the events leading up to the trial of the Rosenbergs and others, the book contains curious details about their childhood and youth, personal qualities, relationships with loved ones and colleagues. The narrative immerses the rabid anti-communism of the beginning of the Cold War and is a vivid example of the rampant anti-Soviet propaganda, little known in Russia.
