Cholera is still a deadly disease, but in the Russian capitals, St. Petersburg and Moscow, this "Asian guest" has not appeared for a long time. And once her arrival completely changed the rhythm of life of the citizens, their daily life: they dressed up in the snares, tried not to go out on an empty stomach, wiped with olive oil and took all sorts of other measures, so as not to get into the rapidly growing mourning lists. Not everyone was lucky: seven St. Petersburg cholera epidemics claimed the lives of seventy thousand citizens; among the victims of the disease were the great Karl Ivanovich Rossi and Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
