The new monograph of V. Hazan tells about the unique fate of a famous Russian revolutionary figure, a member of the SS Party Pinhas (peter) Rutenberg (1879-1942). Rutenberg was one of the main participants in the events that entered the history of Russia under the name "Bloody Sunday" and gave impetus to the beginning of the first Russian revolution. Rutenberg's subsequent life was connected with a completely different reality: having returned to the Jewish faith and turned into a nationalist of the zionist tray, he became one of the largest Jewish leaders, the founder of the energy industry Eretz Israel and the builder of the future State of Israel. On abundant archival material the author reveals the bright and ambiguous personality of Rutenberg, his extremely complex and dramatic fate, as well as the significant contribution he made to the Russian and Jewish history of the twentieth century.
