The venerable Beresford couple - once inedied adventurers Tommy and Tuppens - visits a relative in a nursing home. There Tuppence accidentally meets a strange old lady, who told everyone about sinister murders, poisonings and black magic. And soon the Beresfords learn that this old lady suddenly - and completely without a trace - disappeared from the God-pleasing institution. And the unruly Tuppence goes in search of her, despite his already solid age, - for flair tells her that the matter here is really unclean ...
