The couple Nat and Helen decide to build a house in Vermont. But the plot of land they acquired, even a century later terrifies the locals because of rumors of a treasure buried in a swamp and protected by the ghost of a murdered witch.

Local teenage girl Olive is sure that the treasure exists. She tells Nat and Helen that her mother disappeared a year ago because of a witch.
