Anatoly Marienhof (1897-1962) is better known to the modern reader as a novelist and memoirist, but he began in the turbulent revolutionary years as a poet-imager, who expressed his attitude to the changes taking place in the country in shocking, often scandalous images. This period is also marked by the beginning of Marienof's friendship with another poet and also a great "hooligan" - Sergei Yesenin. It was Yesenin who became the main character of his "Roman without lies" (1926) and the recipient of many poems. The current edition includes the three best novels by Anatoly Marienof: the memoir "A Novel Without Lies"; "Cynics" (1928), which, according to Joseph Brodsky, "one of the most innovative works in Russian fiction of this century"; and "The Shaved Man" (1929). The last two novels went abroad and started the writer's bullying in the 1930s. In addition, the book includes poems from different years, the tragedy of "Conspiracy of Fools", a small memoir prose and a program article about the imaginism "Buyan-Island".
