The book is dedicated to the life and worldview of the "philosopher of philosophers" Benedict Spinoza (1632-1677). The author, the famous Israeli writer Peter Lukimson, questions and revises many known facts of the biography of the great thinker and makes an attempt to psychoanalyze his personality, as a result of which it appears in a new, sometimes completely unexpected light. Particular attention in the book is the analysis of Spinoza's influence on the development of world philosophy and the mass consciousness of mankind.
