Brief annotation
The name of Admiral Pavel Stepanovich Nakhimov (1802-1855) is inscribed in the history of Russian military glory. The graduate of the Marine Corps participated in a three-year round-the-world voyage, received a baptism of fire in the Battle of Navarin against the Turkish navy, built and armed ships in Arkhangelsk, Kronstadt and Nikolaev, defended the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus from Turks and Highlanders, led engineering work in the Novorossiysk Bay, won a brilliant victory over the Turkish squadron at Sinop. Nakhimov was called the soul of the defense of Sevastopol - "Russian Troy" - in the Crimean War. His life and death are a vivid example of the fulfillment of military duty.
