The book is a composition of fragments of testimonies and memories about the notable personalities and events of the First World War and the Civil War, as well as the two revolutions of 1917 - February and October. The book also includes fragments from works of art on the same subject, having an autobiographical character (Alexei Remizov, Artem Vesely) or written in the genre of fiction biography (Roman Gul, Mark Aldanov). In its entirety, the book should convey the atmosphere of the fever of 1914-1920 and introduce the reader to the least so far illuminated events and aspects of the lives of their participants.
