Emma Gerstein (1903-2002) - literary historian, memoirist. Emma Gerstein was lucky enough to be with those whose names are inscribed in the history of Russian culture. Up close, not from afar, she watched the outstanding writers and scholars of the 20th century - Osip Mandelstam, Anna Akhmatova, Boris Pasternak, Lev Gumilev, Nikolai Kharjiev. Gerstein's memoirs, published in 1998, became a real event in literary life, and the Slavist Omri Ronen called them "merciless". About her heroes Gerstein wrote aptly, passionately, expressively, not shy of his love for them, nor rejection. The book "The Poets" also includes literary articles and later memoirs by E. G. Gerstein, published in the magazine "The Banner" in 1999 and 2002.
