The book is the first detailed biography of Gennady Shpalikov (1937-1974) - film playwright, poet, prose writer, one of the brightest artists of the thaw era, author of scripts of cult films of the early 1960s - "Ilyich's Outpost" and "I Walk Moscow." The biography is based on the memories of contemporaries, archival documents, conversations of the author with friends and relatives of the main character of the book.
