Reputation of the famous writer and journalist of the last third of the 19th - early 20th centuries. Hieronymus Jeronymovich Yasinsky was very controversial: too often he changed orientations: from populism to monarchical populism, and then to Nietzscheanism and Marxism, and from social fiction to "art for art" and then to proletarian Literature. Trying to present his life in a positive light, he wrote for the first time published in full memoirs "The Novel of My Life" (in 1926 printed a strongly abbreviated version of them), where he gave a wide panorama of Russian life (the life of students and peasants, liberation movement, journalism, World War I, sports, etc.). Special attention is paid to literature (the book contains portraits of I.A.Goncharov, M.E. Saltykov-Shedrin, N.Sleskova, A.P. Chekhov, K.M.Fofanov, SL.Nadson, V.M.Garshin and many other writers).
