The book is about the fate of people who lived today and lived hundreds of years ago. It is a noble book about the ways in which people come to God, regardless of what He is called and the various confessions of faith. At the origins of his ancient family, the author finds deeply religious Jews whose children and grandchildren rejected the beliefs of their fathers, choosing the Revolution as a deity for the sake of justice and brotherhood of men. This deity turned into a genie of hatred, and they themselves became its victims, because it was incredibly difficult for them to keep faith in their ideals and dignity before the demon of the Soviet system. After following spiritually the paths of her ancestors, Olga Rivkina moved on to Christianity. It was there that she found a moral support and found the high principles of humanism. But it does not impose its experience on the reader as the only way to the truth. Finally, it is a touching book, as the author loves the people he writes about. Both famous and little-known - these people are dear to her heart, and therefore she was able to convey to us their living voices.
