From a boy found by soldiers in a ruined Chechen aul to one of Russia's greatest artists of the 1840s, this is the life path of Peter Sakharov-Chechen (1816?1846). In his fate were the study of K. Bryullov, who called him "first after himself", and friendship with M. Lermontov, who made him a prototype of his Mtsyri, and the triumphant election to the Academy of Arts. The early death of a concomy prevented him from fully revealing his talent, but he remained in history a vivid example of the creative talent of the Chechen people, his long-standing gravitation to Russian and world culture.
