A brilliant master of landscape painting, a wonderful portraitist and theatrical decorator, founder of Russian Impressionism, Konstantin Korovin left a great artistic and literary heritage, which is difficult to overestimate. His life and work took place in an era rich in historical events, fate brought him together with outstanding people of his time - artists, actors, theatrical figures, philanthropists, many of whom became his close friends. Among them are M.A. Vrubel, V.A. Serov, I. Levitan, V. D. Polenov, A.K. Savrasov, F. I. Chaliapin, S. I. Mammothov.

Being in exile, longing for his homeland, Korovin completed his memoirs, begun in the early years of the revolution, wrote stories, where with piercing truth and simplicity captured his heart-loving Russia and those whom he loved and remembered. His stories, as a rule, are autobiographical, they are surprisingly "picturesque" and allow to talk about the undoubted literary talent of the author. Once V.Y. Svetlov very accurately called K.A. Korovin a poet and a word artist.
