The two-volume book continues a series of bibliographic manuals "The Book Universe." Earlier in the series published books dedicated to the national prose of the 18th and 19th centuries. (Encyclopedia of Russian Life. Moscow : Pashkov House, 2013) and poetry of the 10th and 19th centuries. (Echo of the Russian people. Moscow : Pashkov House, 2015).
In the new edition of more than forty domestic writers of the 18th and 19th centuries - from M.V. Lomonosov and G. R. Derzhavin to V. G. Korolenko and A. P. Chekhov - are presented through their memoirs, documentary evidence of a memoir character (autobiography, autobiography, diaries, letters, etc.), as well as the memories of their contemporaries. Modern biographical literature about writers has also been included in the recommendation and bibliographic essays.
