The title of the collection corresponds to three main parts of it: the first is published by M.L. Gasparov himself, including his letters; in the second he becomes the main character - first in memoirs and essays, and then - in articles and reflections of the academic plan; in the third - articles about key figures of Russian poetry of the 20th century, which became the main subject of attention of the scientist in the last decades of his life.
The book for the first time published articles by M.L. Gasparov about Mandelstam's poems from the collection "The Stone" written for the "Mandelshtam Encyclopedia", his letters to A.K. Jolkovsky, as well as a correspondence with M.J. Lotman, which captured the decades of the heyday of Russian science about verse in the 1970s-1980s, the intellectual problems of the last third of the 20th century - in the live commentary of the correspondent. Most of the works are written specifically for this edition.
