No artist has received such popular recognition and no one has been subjected to such fierce bullying of professional criticism as Ilya Glazunov, founder of the Russian Academy of Painting, sculpting and architecture, an outstanding figure of the 20th century. His life resembles a constantly active volcano, spewing avalanches of kindness to people, friends, disciples and streams of hatred for evil, adherents of the avant-garde, which is opposed by a thousand paintings written by him in the glory of high realism.
