The monograph of the outstanding fashion historian, Professor Christopher Bruard of the University of Edinburgh, "Fashion London. Clothing and modern metropolis" is a study of London's fashionable geography, the history of its individual neighborhoods, fashionable types (dandy and actress, Teddy-boy and student) and shopping. The author assumes that the birth and development of fashion is impossible without the city and builds its analysis on the example of London, which became a platform for the formation of the dandy style and experienced rapid industrial growth in the 19th century, including in the clothing production. In the 20th century, it was London that became a true subcultural Mecca, which finally established it as one of the world's most important fashion capitals, along with Paris, Milan and New York.
