"My Thoughts on Theatre" is almost the author's name. It conveys the very essence of these texts: projects, considerations, proposals of a completely personal nature... As a playwright, Paul Claudel was never indifferent to the embodiment of his plays: he liked to interfere in the process and, sometimes bringing to the white-hardened directors, to waste advice and guidance. He was interested in technical issues, invented staging plans, drew in his imagination experiments in the field of diction, music, gesture ... He dreamed of some, others - realized. He composed ballets, pantomimes, and after the creation of the "Atlas Shoe" - freed to some extent from his own dramatic work - such plays, each of which is an "experiment": "The Book of Christopher Columbus," "Joan of Arc at the Stake," "Peer Wisdom... He would need a "total performance" in which dance, music, cinema... would support poetry. From his correspondence, articles, reports, etc. It was easy to compile a compilation; in the editorial of Jacques Petit and Jean-Pierre Kemp, the texts are arranged in chronological sequence, reflecting Claudel's passions and interests. Before us there is a theatrical figure or, rather, a poet who dreams of the possibilities of the theater.
